Our fingerprint cards are finished and in the mail to our local adoption agency along with a $48 bank check to the Department of Economic Security. Hopefully neither of us has a shady past or any skeletons in our closet! Our Child Protective Services background check is also underway.
Our references have been solicited, and each of our chosen references excitedly accepted. We are, of course, full of gratitude to these friends and family members. Our autobiographies are in the making, and our document gathering for our home study is nearly complete. Our financial statement will need to be completed and notarized. Our pool will hopefully pass code, and our French doors are going to be replaced with better doors, additional locks and associated security doors.
And with each mark through our exhaustive checklist, our vision of a child in our family becomes ever more clear. The reality is far away, but the dream is so near and the hope is so real.

Oh, and big sister Gretchen is clearly thrilled.

I don't know. Guy's contributions to Ron Paul may cause some problems.
