2 patients instead of 1!

"Check out my funny haircut everyone!" - Phoebe
Phoebe's 1st full day at home went surprisingly well. As opposed to Ozzie, whose second knee was swollen beyond belief, Phoebe's leg is minimally swollen, and of course she is already trying to bear weight on her left hind leg even though the vet tech said it could be weeks before she tried to do that! She snuck up the stairs and jumped on the bed her first night home when we were not paying close attention. Those are two big "no-no's", but in Phoebe's mind, she and her new left knee are all ready to go! "Slow down, girl, it is only post-op day #3 and you've got another 4 or 5 months of healing!", we want to advise, but she won't have a word of it.

On another note, in addition to nursing our energetic post-surgical labrador mix, our nephew Max was sick with an ear infection and a bad cold yesterday, so he "hung" with his Auntie and Dat-Guy all day yesterday rather than going to his daycare. It seems that a couple of walks in the sunshine, Beauty and the Beast on the comfort of Auntie's lap wrapped in a blanket on the couch with soy milk, a long nap, and a trip to Target were all key to begin his restoration to health! The way we look at it, he will have the most beefed-up immune system by the time he starts Kindergarten that he'll be virtually untouchable as far as viruses are concerned. Hopefully the little guy is feeling better today.

You have got to like the German version of "God bless you" or "Gesundheit".
TO YOUR HEALTH!
