Our day yesterday felt a bit harried, but it ended at a beautiful fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson. Guy was on call at the hospital yesterday morning, and Marisa was incredibly busy taking the dogs to the dogpark, getting her hair done at Gadabout, and squishing in an hour-long workout at Mid Valley in the afternoon. The term "busy" is truly relative.
We were 15 minutes from take-off time with our neighbors, Millie & Leighton, when Guy got a call that he was going to have to cover the hospital until his partner finished a procedure at another site. So, Marisa went dateless for the first hour and half, which wasn't all bad despite the fact that she reclaimed her long ago and happily-pitched title as "the lonely lady". The bartender provided free wine for the dateless with the sad lonely face, and many items were bid on as the silent auction was circled over and over again by the lonely lady in her purple satin. By the time Guy arrived at the event, we were going to dinner at 5 restaurants, getting ballroom dancing lessons, acupuncture, artwork, wine, and 2 nights with breakfast at the JW Marriott Starr Pass, and it was all very exciting!
We sat with Millie & Leighton, Greg & Robin, Leighton Jr. & Amanda, and a few others whose names have escaped, and dined on salad, a portabello mushroom entree, and a fruit tart dessert. We sponsored 1/2 a child for camp AZDA in our semi-lucid gushing generosity created by the red wine and good company. And we danced like we didn't even need lessons!! That being said, we were outbid on the ballroom dancing lessons and the acupuncture, and dinner at Fox Restuarants, but we did leave with our hands full of other wonderful and tax-deductible items, such as that 2-night stay and breakfast at the JW Marriott at Starr Pass and a piece of artwork called "Young Piano Player" (the "dog" in the picture was actually a small child. . . go figure).
Next fancy gala, here we come!!
