And we didn't have our camera for any of it!

We had such a fun, simple, easy kind of weekend. Although technically this was the 2nd weekend of 2009, it really felt like the "welcoming" weekend of the New Year. Thus, a blog entry has finally arrived.

We enjoyed a pizza & (surprisingly) the movie "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants part II" on Friday night. We had not seen part I, but it didn't seem to matter. Seriously, you can catch on to the chick-flick plot quite quickly. I think that we may have had a few glasses of wine that evening, and maybe that's why we thought it was cute movie. Whatever the case, tears weren't shed for 15 minutes straight like during the viewing of "The Bucket List" last weekend. We won't mention from whom the waterworks tolled.

As the childless couple that we are, we slept until 9:30 on Saturday morning. After tooling around on the internet in our PJ's with a few jarring cups of coffee for a good 2 hours or so (also a result of childlessness), we went for a leisurely run to Reid Park and back. We quickly showered up, and then it was time to pick up our favorite nephew for some afternoon laughs with Auntie M and Uncle Guy.

We took Max out to lunch at Frog n' Firkin first, and he thorougly enjoyed a plate of french fries. The birds and Guy and Marisa enjoyed the fries as well. Max seemed to catch on quickly to the new "bird" word. The birds loved it!

We then took him to the dogpark with our own hairy babies. On top of Guy's shoulders, Max found the dogpark incredibly entertaining! Now it's just pure gush, but his laugh truly warms the heart. Of dogs he has no fear, which is a wonderful trait in a little being, for "the purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals".

Then it was off to meet Philip and Cindy for our first get-together of the new year: Cyberbowl! None of us had been bowling in decades probably, but it sure was a hoot, to say the least. As the title indicates, we did not have our camera all weekend, but it really did look something like this:

Pretty cool. Loved the music and the cyber lights. The Miller Lite didn't taste too badly either. Apparently the french fries and onion rings left something to be desired.

Last night, we watched "Buying the Cow", an early 2000's comedy. The Twin Towers were still standing in the New York City shots. Yep. It must have been filmed in 2000. Hard to believe.

And, alas, that brings us to our Sunday. In a nutshell? Sit in PJ's, drink coffee, work on presentation and want to scream because of new Mac, play guitar with Ben, out to lunch at Zivas, dogs to dogpark, "weight-walking" (our newest invention which keeps you fit and entertained), and off to Gates Pass to watch the sunset. It was a beautiful ending to a simply beautiful weekend. The best kind of weekend.

Welcome New Year!
