Venice Beach Hollywood Hills Lake San Marcos
Our plans started out simple: fly to Burbank, lunch with Michelle & Diane, check into Hollywood Heights Hotel, carpool down to Venice Beach for the second night of Lindsay's play "Expressing Motherhood" (both inspiring & scary!), hang with Lindsay & Gregg at their home in Hollywood Hills on Sunday morning, and fly back to Tucson in the afternoon. In retrospect, even that was a lot of planning for 24 hours!
Well, sometime in April, Uncle Tad passed away, and his celebration of life at Ocean Beach was planned for the same weekend. We didn't make it down to San Diego County for the celebration, but we were able to spend time with Captain Dave & Audrey at their home in Lake San Marcos after the celebration on Sunday afternoon.
Thank goodness that we were able to be there to see: Mom & Dad, Katy, Barrett, Dave, Audrey, Judy & Steve Dotson, & even Linda & Jennifer (for about 5 minutes, but, hey, we got to exchange hugs)! We even got to celebrate Katy's birthday with her over breakfast on Monday morning before we flew home out of San Diego airport.
Included this quote on an e-mail earlier today, but it's so pretty. Have to include it here, too, for so many reasons: friendship, love, old battles, forgiveness, closed doors, open doors, thoughtfulness, to name a few.

Each friend represents a world in us,
a world possibly not born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting that
a new world is born.

Good Morning. My name is John Mohler and I am the historian for the 1962 class at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. Saw your reference to the death of Tad Eller and we are wondering if it is the same Tad that was in our class. He had a brother David in the San Diego area. Would like to know if there is anyone we can contact.
Sincerely,
John Mohler johnmohler@mac.com
